Donetsk, Mar 5 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia signed an parliamentary cooperation agreement here on Tuesday.

The signing ceremony took place at a government building in central Donetsk. The document was signed by DPR parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka and his South Ossetian counterpart Petr Gassiyev.

“I believe it’s a great day and a benchmark for our brotherly Republics; we’re strengthening our cooperation and friendly relations,” Bidyovka said.

The agreement promotes direct contacts between parliamentarians of the two countries, study of experience and legislative practice and joint parliament sessions.

Taking part at the Tuesday meeting were South Ossetian presidential aide Alan Gabatov, DPR parliament deputy speaker Olga Makeyeva, DPR first deputy foreign minister Sergey Peresada and parliamentarians of the two countries.

Tthe DPR signed similar agreements with the Republic of Crimea and the Lugansk People’s Republic in January 2019.*jk
