Donetsk, Jun 13 — DAN. A Donetsk People’s Republic delegation that includes parliamentarians has arrived in Syria on a working visit, DPR parliament deputy speaker Sergey Prokopenko said on Monday.
“It has a busy program; a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad is ahead, ” Prokopenko wrote on his Telegram channel.
He posted a photo taken at Damascus Airport showing Russian State Duma deputy, member of the “United Russia” party Dmitry Sablin and head of the largest DPR parliament faction “Donetsk Republic” Valery Skorokhodov.
No other details of the visit were disclosed.
The DPR and Syria cooperate in the fields of economy, politics, education, culture etc. Last week, Culture Minister Mikhail Zheltyakov visited Syria where he met with his Syrian counterpart. The parties discussed ideas to develop cooperation including mutual artists’ tours opportunities.*jk
