Donetsk, Jun 4 - DAN. Donetsk martial artists won bronze and silver at the European online wushu championships, the Donetsk People’s Republic Youth, Sport and Tourism Ministry press service reported on Thursday.
“The official European wushu championships were held online for the first time from May 25 to June 4; DPR athletes won five medals,” the press service said. “Alyona Monastyrskaya won bronze in stick, Natalia Krivoshei won silver in traditional weapons, Alexey Ilyenko won bronze in spear and Sofia Chuvinova won silver in stick and bronze in empty-hand technique.”
The DPR let its best wushu exponents compete in the European competition as independent athletes of the European Wushu Federation. The tournament gathered athletes from 25 countries.
Each participant sent a video of his or her performance to judges located in several European countries who graded the performance level using an interactive programme.
The DPR Sport Ministry said that the Republic’s athletes had participated in official international wushu competitions since 2016 and that they had won medals in Armenia, Belarus, Malaysia, Moldova and Russia.*jk
