Donetsk, Dec 5 - DAN. Artists of the M. Brovun Donetsk State Academic Musical and Drama Theatre have left for the Ulyanovsk, Russia, which is hosting the 5th international theatre festival “History of Russia. Motherland and Fates,” the Theatre reported on Thursday.

“The group that performs in Alexander Pushkin’s Young Lady Peasant has left for Russia to take part in the 5th international theatre festival in Ulyanovsk on December 5-12,” the report said.

The festival founders are the Russian Culture Ministry, the Ulyanovsk region government, the regional arts and cultural policy ministry and the Ulyanovsk-based I.Goncharov Drama Theatre.

“Our theatre is known in Ulyanovsk, but it’s the first time we’re going to show a play there. The festival ideas resonate with us; we are happy to show an original version of Russian classics on international stage, the Donetsk Musical and Drama Theatre Director General and Art Director Natalia Volkova  said. “The Young Lady Peasant is popular with Donetsk spectators and we hope that Ulyanovsk residents will like it as well. I’m sure we’ll do well and get an award.”

The festival will run 14 plays staged by theatres of Donetsk, Ulyanovsk, Vladimir, Moscow, Minsk, Ufa, Penza, Dimitrovgrad, Kirov, Tel Aviv, London and Heidelberg.  The Brovun Donetsk Musical and Drama Theatre troupe will perform on December 7.*jk
