Donetsk, May 10 - DAN. Politicians and activists from 12 countries will attend the festivities marking Republic’s Day in Donetsk, the Foreign Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“This year, official delegations from the Russian Federation, the Lugansk People’s Republic, the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia will take part in Republic’s Day celebrations,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Politicians and activists from Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Finland, France and Switzerland will visit Donetsk as well. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko and senior DPR officials are expected to meet with the delegates, according to the Ministry.
Donetsk will hold a number of events on May 11 on the occasion of Republic’s Day such as the march along the city’s main street and a large show at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium featuring Russian celebrities Oleg Gazmanov and the Fabrika group. Alexey Goman will perform in the Shcherbakov Park.
Republic’s Day is a state holiday commemorating the referendum on the state independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic which was held in Donbass on May 11, 2014.*jk
