Donetsk, Jan 26 – DAN. World famous filmmaker Emir Kusturica is expected to visit Donbass this May, Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin told Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“When we were talking (with Kusturica – eds DAN), Emir promised to visit Donbass in May 2017. I cannot tell the visit’s objective yet,” Prilepin said.
The first report on the filmmaker’s possible trip to the Donetsk People’s Republic appeared on 27 November.
Emir Kusturica is a Serbian filmmaker, a winner of top awards of major European film festivals, including two Palme d'Ors in Cannes. He was born in Sarajevo, former Yugoslavia, on 24 November 1954.
He is Knight of the Legion of Honour and a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republika Srpska. Among best-known films he directed are Black Cat, White Cat; Arizona dream; Guernica, the Brides Are Coming, Maradona. *jk
