Donetsk, Sep 3 - DAN. The bout between the DPR and Brazilian athletes will be the major event at the Mixed Martial Arts tournament Vozrozhdeniye in Donetsk, the Donetsk People’s Republic Youth, Sport and Tourism Ministry press service said on Monday.
“The key event at the MMA tournament will be the fight between Maxim Shvets of the DPR and Brazil’s Flavio Pina de Sousa,” the Ministry said.
Shvets noted that his opponent was “trained very well.” “He has a long record of professional fights, so I’m expecting a difficult contest,” the Ministry quoted Shvets as saying.
The tournament will bring together 28 athletes from the DPR, Kiev-controlled areas of the Donetsk region, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Brazil. Fourteen fights are planned overall.
The DPR Sports Ministry said that due to the large number of people eager to see the tournament, the organisers decided to move the venue to the Lenin Komsomol Park’s Donbass Liberators Memorial.
The MMA tournament Vozrozhdeniye will be held under the aegis of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme in Donetsk on September 16.*jk
