Donetsk, Dec 11 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic power engineers have put into operation the overhauled first unit of the Zuyevskya thermal power plant, the DPR Fuel and Energy Ministry press service reported on Tuesday.

“Following several months of extensive work and an overhaul, the first unit of the Zuyevskaya thermal power plant passed the tests and was put into operation,” the press service said.

Repairs were carried out by specialists of the DPR’s state-owned company Donbass Energy and the Remenergostroimontazh outsourcing firm. They overhauled the K-300-240-2 turbine, pumps, pulverised coal system gas pipes and the TGV-300 generator. The boiler lining and turbine equipment thermal insulation were also restored.

“Good teamwork and conscientious approach secured quality repairs. The overhaul contributed to the thermal power plant’s efficiency and reliability as well as to energy security of the whole Donetsk People’s Republic, the press service quoted thermal power plant director Yevgeniy Zheleznyak as saying.

Earlier reports said that in October, a DPR flag, one of the largest in the Republic, was painted on a facility cooling tower.

The Zuyevskaya thermal power plant is located 40 kilometres east of Donetsk. The first unit was commissioned in 1982, the fourth in 1988. The facility is the local economic mainstay. It went into receivership on March 1 due to the Donbass blockade by Kiev authorities.*jk
