Donetsk, Sep 1 – DAN. The restaurant blast, which killed DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko on Friday evening, also took life of his bodyguard and wounded 12 more people who are being treated for injuries of various severity, the Health Minister Alexander Oprischenko said.
"According to updated information, two people died as a result of the terrorist attack. They are the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko and his bodyguard," Oprischenko said.
The name of Zakharchenko's employee has not been released.
"Twelve people sustained injuries of various severity."
Five of them remain in the Gusak's Institute of Emergency and Reconstructive Surgery, there is no immediate threat to their lives. Seven patients received aid and were dismissed.
Oprischenko denied rumors on the death of five people including a child saying, "these reports are false."
An explosion rocked a restaurant in downtown Donetsk on Friday evening, at around 5 p.m. Deputy Chairman of the DPR Council of Minister Alexander Timofeyev was one of the casualties hospitalized in serious condition.
Dmitriy Trapeznikov, deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, has been appointed acting DPR Head in accordance with the DPR Constitution, Article 62. *ot
