Donetsk, Nov 24 - DAN. Yuzovsky Metallurgical Plant (YuMZ) in Donetsk plans to produce 20,000 tons of finished goods in December, YuMZ Electric Steelmaking Shop head Alexander Solovey told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“Our current output reaches 15,000 tons a month; in December, we plan to raise it to 20,000 and keep it throughout the next year,” Solovey said. “Our next target is 30,000 tons.”
In March 2020, the plant suspended operation due to interruptions in raw materials supplies and lack of orders. In February 2020, YuMZ produced slightly more than 7,000 tons of finished goods. The plant resumed operation in August after it had agreed deliveries of raw materials with a new supplier. All products are currently exported to Russia. It can also supply products to the domestic market, for example, to its erstwhile partner “Silur,” a Khartsyzsk-based steel and wire rope plant.
On 25 June 2016, DPR Council of Ministers ordered to set up the YuMZ state-owned company using facilities of Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant (DEMZ) private company. DEMZ was shut down by Ukrainian authorities in early 2014. YuMZ launched steel making production on October 5, 2017. The company specialises in continuously cast square billets.*jk
