Donetsk, Jun 8 – DAN. Water supply to Donetsk frontline district will stabilize by the end of the day as it decreased by half after the Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) ceased operation, the minister of Construction and Public Utilities Sergey Naumets said.
"Water is (currently) supplied to Donetsk from the Verkhniy Kalmius water treatment station. Water supply is normalizing in the Kuibyshevskiy district of Donetsk, currently it is cut by only 20 percent. By the evening the water supply will be normal."
Yesterday, the DFS was halted, and its staff evacuated. The JCCC said the facility will stay idle for at least five days.
The DFS supplies water to both sides of the contact line: DPR-controlled Donetsk, Yasinovataya, the Vasilyevka and Spartak villages, parts of Makeyevka, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and the Verkhnetoretskoye villages. The overall number of its customers exceeds 400 thousand.
It also went off grid on May 20 after a shelling incident. *ot
