Donetsk, Feb 8 – DAN. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko announced a three-day mourning following the murder of Commander of Somali unit of DPR armed forces Colonel Mikhail Tolstykh (call sign Givi).
"By Decree No.23 a mourning is announced today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. The document was signed and will soon be published on the official site," DPR Head Administration said.
The funeral is to take place on February 10.
Commander of Somali unit of DPR armed forces Colonel Mikhail Tolstykh (call sign Givi) was killed in Donetsk in an explosion of a round of man-portable rocket launcher-flamethrower Shmel, according to preliminary information of DPR Operations Command.
Mikhail Tolstykh was born in Ilovaisk in 1980. Was enlisted in the Ukrainian armed forces. He joined DPR militia from the very beginning of Donbass war, took part in the battles for Slavyansk, Ilovaisk, Donetsk airport. Tolstykh was attributed DPR Hero title, two The Cross of Saint George decorations, “For Slavyansk Defense” medal, Colonel rank.
