Donetsk, May 1 – DAN. Several thousand people joined the rally in Donetsk today to celebrate the May 1 – the Day of Spring and Labor.
The chairman of DPR Trade Unions Federation Maksim Parshin, the chairman of the Metallurgy and Mining trade union Igor Zhadan, activists of another 25 trade unions and representatives of Donetsk Republic social movement were among the participants.
"Dear colleagues and friends, accept my congratulations with the May First, the Day of Spring and Labor, the International Workers' Day. This day symbolizes our unity, the hope for the best, for our future," Parshin said.
The participants of the rally displayed banners "Peace, Labor, May", "Our strength is in our unity", "Solidarity", banners of enterprises, balloons and flowers.
The rally wound up with the performance of Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic.
"For me, May First is the celebration of peace, unity, spring, it is the time for everything good happening in the world, I have always loved this holiday," the rally participant Vladislav Gonchar told DAN correspondent.
Earlier in the day, May 1 Parade took place in the center of Donetsk.
DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko issued a decree to celebrate the holiday on May 1 as the Day of Spring and Labor.*ot
