Donetsk, Feb 6 - DAN. Snowdrifts restricted truck traffic on two highways linking the Donetsk People’s Republic capital with the Russian border, the DPR Interior Ministry press service reported on Thursday.
“Traffic restrictions apply to T-05-08 road (Donetsk-Novoazovsk-Sedovo) and T-05-07 road (Donetsk, Khartzyzsk-Uspenka checkpoint) until completion of snow cleaning,” the report said.
Road police are on hand to prevent traffic bottlenecks in problem areas.
“They accompany snow cleaning equipment to ensure its unhindered passage and take measures to deal with traffic congestion,” the Ministry said.
The DPR State Traffic Safety Inspectorate urged drivers to be extra cautious, observe traffic rules, take weather conditions into account and not to drive outside settlements unless necessary.
The drivers who meet with an accident or need emergency assistance can call State Road Safety Inspectorate hotline 0713617378.
Wet snow has snapped transmission lines, crushed trees and decreased visibility on roads in the DPR since February 5. The DPR Emergencies Ministry Hydrometeorological Service expects temperatures of minus 14 degrees Celsius and 15 to 20 metres per second wind gusts later this week. Extreme weather might continue until February 7.*jk
