Donetsk, Aug 31 – DAN. Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his deep condolenses over the death of the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, the Kremlin press service said.

"Alexander Vasiliyevich was a true people's leaders, bold and courageous, patriot of Donbass. He stood up for his country in difficult times, assuming great personal responsibility, he led people," Putin said.

"The dastardly murder of Alexander Zakharchenko is another proof of that those who choose the path of terror, violence and intimidation do not want to search a peaceful, political resolution to the conflict, do not want to engage into a true dialog with the residents of the South-East. Instead they dangerously opt for destabilization, to bring Donbass to knees. But they will not be able to do it," said Russian leader.

"I count on that the masterminds and perpetrators of this crime shall bear responsibility they deserve."

"I once again express my condolences to the family and friends of Alexander Vasiliyevich Zakharchenko, to all Donbass people. Russia shall always be by your side."
