Donetsk, Feb 14 — DAN. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) has begun to staff its departments in the new regions, EMERCOM’s press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
In December 2022, EMERCOM Head Alexander Kurenkov ordered to set up four EMERCOM branches in the new regions. “Organizational measures are being implemented, ” the press service said. “Methodological and practical assistance will be provided in the course of the staffing of the EMERCOM Department for the Donetsk People’s Republic including training and refresher courses at EMERCOM centers.”
On January 1, EMERCOM’s maximum complement increased by 15,000 and currently reaches over 303,000.
The Ministry is being reinforced with personnel of military rescue units, firefighters and civil officers. “Hiring more employees will enable EMERCOM to staff its regional branches, ” the press service said.
The heads of the regional departments had practical training at the EMERCOM Central Office and EMERCOM departments in other Russian regions to improve interaction and familiarize themselves with Russian population safety norms and work procedures.
The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions acceded to Russia in late September 2022 following the unification referenda. The transition period for the integration of new regions will last until January 1, 2026.*jk
