Donetsk, Jun 14 – DAN. Russia has approved 1,200 requests for citizenship from DPR resisents, head of the Interior Ministry department for the Rostov region Oleg Agarkov said.

"1,200 applications have been processed and approved," he said.

Russia have begun issuing passports to DPR residents today as 34 DPR residents received their new passports.

Russian president Vladimir Putin on April 24 signed a decree to allow residents of the Donbass region to obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure. The document also opens wider opportunities for participants of the voluntary compatriot resettlement program. *ot
