Donetsk, Apr 18 – DAN. The Voda Donbassa water company has shut down the Donetsk water treatment plant (DFS) for five days, according to a preliminary agreement, said DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) Ruslan Yakubov.

"Preliminary agreement has been reached to shut DFS for five days, reconnecting customers to reserve water supply facilities. The management and staff of the plant hopes that five days are enough to stabilize the situation and adopt a policy decision on security situation."

The JCCC said that the DFS staff had begun shutting the plant at 4 p.m. Mothballing equipment will take about two hours. After the operation is complete, the DFS personnel shall be evacuated with the assistance of the SMM.

"Besides, the OSCE SMM expressed its willingness to resume enhanced monitoring of the area when at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day when shifts change," Yakubov said.

Ukrainian forces opened fire on a convoy carrying Donetsk Water Treatment Plant (DFS) personnel on Tuesday afternoon, wounding five people.

The company has taken decision to evacuate the remaining personnel from the station, to shut it down and to mothball the facility.

The DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko said that the situation on the DFS, caused by Ukrainian army, is a clear sign of Ukraine's preparation for an offensive. *ot
