Donetsk, Nov 7 – DAN. A Khartsizk resident has been killed as the result of reckless handling of explosives, his partner has been taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds, the DPR Interior Ministry said.
"Khartsizk police station was notified of an explosion in a multi-apartment house in the Metallurgov neighborhood. Police found the male body (born in 1993) and a 21-year-old woman with shrapnel wounds to chest and face, who was taken to hospital."
The police found out that the man and the woman were consuming alcohol as they began to quarrel. The man subsequently pulled out an object resembling hand grenade and started twisting it. The explosive went off moments after.
The investigation is ongoing.
Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or bearing of firearms, its basic parts, ammunition, explosives, and explosive devices is prosecuted under Art. 256 of the DPR Criminal Code and is punishable by up to eight years of imprisonment. *ot
