Donetsk, May 7 – DAN. The dress rehearsal for a Victory Day military parade took place in Donetsk today as the annual ceremony is to mark the 73rd anniversary of Nazi Germany's defeat in the Second World War on May 9.
Today's rehearsal led by the DPR Minister of Defense Vladimir Kononov and the Operations Command commander Denis Sinenkov, was final in a series of armed forces' gearing up for the display of commemoration and devotion to the Republic.
"Equipment made its way perfectly with minor mishaps in squares alinement. The guys are well-prepared, we are perfectly ready for the Parade," Kononov said.
Donetsk Higher All-Troops Command College cadets, emergency responders, police marched along the city main street keeping pace with DPR military officers, sergeants and soldiers.
Dozens of tanks, IFVs, APCs, Gvozdika and Grad artillery pieces headed by a WWII T-34 tank, followed the infantry.
A platform has been installed at the central square to house top officials including the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko and WWII veterans.
The parade will be held under accompaniment of the Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic Brass Orchestra.
The first Victory Day parade in the DPR history was held on May 9, 2015, when several dozens of military equipment pieces made their way through Donetsk streets. *ot
