Donetsk, Mar 24 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic tuberculosis incidence rate has decreased by 25 percent compared to the period before the fighting broke out in the region, DPR HealthCare Ministry TB treatment expert Anna Kovalyova said at a press briefing at in Donetsk on Tuesday.
“Compared to the pre-war period, the TB incidence rate has dropped by 25 percent, on the average,” Kovalyova said.
Head of the Dangerous Infections Department of the Republic’s Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Centre Liliya Skripka said that the tuberculosis vaccine was supplied by Russia and that TB vaccination was mandatory.
World TB Day, falling on March 24th each year, is marked at the initiative of the World Health Organisation which announced in 1993 that tuberculosis was a global problem.*jk
