Donetsk, May 30 – DAN. DPR residents have adopted 205 orphans since July 2015, said the director of DPR State Service for Children and Family Affairs Svetlana Maiboroda.
“205 children have been adopted in DPR, 16 of them have been adopted in 2018.”
She said residents are becoming more interested concerning the adoption. Currently 62 applicants are waiting to welcome children in their homes, among those are 46 families and 16 sole adopters, while there are 3,852 orphan children or whose parents have been deprived of parental rights; 620 of them are living in state orphanages and state fully provides for them.
Five orphanage social workers were granted professional awards from the Ministry of Social Policy and State Service for Children and Family Affairs on the eve of the Children's Day celebrated on June 1.
DPR State Service for Children and Family Affairs was established on 9 December, 2014 to protect children’s rights, including orphans, to support families, motherhood and childhood. The first adoption was formalized in DPR on July 19, 2015. *ot
