Donetsk, Jan 2 - DAN. DPR Ministry of Agroindustrial Policy and Food’s 2018 priorities include the development of processing industry, vegetable farming and cattle breeding, an official said on Tuesday.
“Pursuant to DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko’s instruction, processing industry is among the key priorities in DPR agroindustrial policy in 2018,” acting DPR Agroindustrial Policy and Food Minister Vladimir Antonov said in a press release on DPR website. “No more exports of raw materials, we should export high-level processing products such as flour; the first batch was recently supplied to the Russian Federation.”
He noted that a phase out of food imports and implementation of the vegetable farming programme for 2018-2023 were benchmark agroindustrial policy moves. “Over this period, the republic should fully meet the domestic demand for vegetables,” the website quoted him as saying.
The country has been working on a state programme for cattle breeding and adequate milk supply to the population. The plans will be implemented after coordination with the dedicated ministries. The programme is expected to be finalised in late January. *jk
