Donetsk, Jun 2 - DAN. Nearly 21,000 customers across the Donetsk People’s Republic were left without electricity overnight due to adverse weather conditions, the DPR Fuel and Energy Ministry reported on Wednesday.

“Overall, 19 high voltage lines, 257 electrical substations, 20,583 customers, eight schools, six kindergartens and one hospital had power outages,” the report said.

Electricity cutoffs began to occur in the Azov area and the Telmanovskiy district starting midnight. As the thunderstorm moved, blackouts were reported after 8:00 in Snezhny, Debaltsevo, Yasinovataya, Amvrosiyevka and some districts of Donetsk, according to the Ministry.

“Power supply has already been restored to more than 12,000 customers, six schools and five kindergartens; other infrastructure facilities switched to standby power lines,” it said.

Repairs are being conducted by the Regional Energy Supply Company. Repair teams are on intensive duty.

Rainy weather has been observed across the DPR since Monday evening. The weather service expects showers with thunderstorms throughout the whole week.*jk
