Donetsk, Oct 1 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic launched its first ever census on Tuesday to make official records of population size, mix and density while taking into account socio-economic factors including nationality, language and education level.
Information will be gathered in a door-to-door poll from October 1 to October 14. The census takers, identified by a special ID and republican census logo on their bags, will offer residents to fill out a questionnaire.
As many 538 census centres were set up in DPR towns and districts, including 153 in Donetsk, to collect data from those who are unavailable at home.
The centres’ addresses can be found on the official website of the DPR Main Statistics Department.
Earlier reports said that the census questionnaire targeted such information as gender, age, citizenship, nationality, education, family status and living conditions. Census participation is voluntary.
It is conducted pursuant to DPR Head decree No 221 and government resolution No 18-8. Police were tasked with ensuring the safety of census takers, census papers and Main Statistics Committee offices.
The results are due to be published not later than the second quarter of 2020. The previous census in Donbass was held in 2001.*jk
