Donetsk, Nov 30 – DAN. DPR authorities have established contact with the Ukrainian parliamentary ombudswoman Ludmila Denisova to discuss the procedure to hand over convicts who are willing to serve their terms in Ukraine, said DPR Ombudswoman Daria Morozova.
"We have been prepared for another exchange for a long time; we have been trying to renew cooperation with Ukraine on this issue for several months now. We have finally established contact with Denisova and were able to discuss the mechanism."
She said that the DPR is determined to hand over convicts as soon as possible and urged Kiev to refrain from politicizing the process.
"We are open for negotiations and we are waiting for copies of the mentioned announcements. I think the list would have been much shorter if Ukraine has not been blocking the process for eight months. We urge to put political ambitions aside and to cooperate on the soonest implementation of the initiative."
The latest hand over of convicts who wanted to serve terms in Ukraine took place in February 2018. That time, 20 people were passed over to Ukraine. The total of 186 people were handed over to Ukraine by the DPR since the conflict broke out. *ot
