Donetsk, Feb 12 – DAN. The DPR expects another batch of Sputnik V vaccine in February, the acting Minister of Health Alexander Oprischenko said.

"A substantial batch of the anti-COVID vaccine is expected to arrive in the DPR soon. We expect it in February. The shipment is to be divided into two groups: for designated categories and for other people who joined the waiting-list through the Ministry of Healthcare website and in hospitals."

All 38 inoculation sites are ready to accept patients. Storage containers are available, medical personnel has been instructed.

The vaccination takes place in two stages: first shot is administered intramuscularly, the second one is administered after three weeks. The first one triggers immune reaction, the second reinforces it. After the shots patients must remain under medical surveillance for 30 minutes.

Russia began to develop a vaccine in summer 2020. It was registered on August 11, becoming the first anti-COVID-19 vaccine in the world.

The vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, was named Sputnik V.
