Donetsk, Jan 12 - DAN. World Health Organisation experts shared their experience with Donetsk People’s Republic medics in treating COVID-19 patients, in the course of 26 online conferences arranged last year, the DPR Healthcare Ministry reported on Tuesday.
“The Republican Health Centre (affiliated with the DPR Healthcare Ministry - eds Donetsk News Agency) and the World Health Organisations had 26 Zoom video conferences starting June 2020,” the Ministry said. “The topics included clinical case management, IT ward infection control and pneumonia prevention, reducing COVID-19 related stress in medical personnel, post COVID-19 syndrome, patient rehabilitation etc.”
To arrange the conferences, the Republican Health Centre sent an official request to the WHO and got its approval. Medics from 206 DPR health centres joined the video conferences last year, the DPR Healthcare Ministry press service told the Donetsk News Agency.
“The online meetings were moderated by consultants and experts in clinical case management, preventive measures and infection control, mental health, psychological and social counselling, HIV and viral hepatitis issues from university clinics of Geneva, Stockholm and Russia’s Pirogov national research medical university,” the Ministry said.
An outbreak of coronavirus-caused pneumonia has been recorded across the world since late 2019. The so-called Patient Zero was in the Chinese city of Wuhan. As of now, more than 90 million novel coronavirus infection cases have been reported; some 1.95 million patients have died. On March 14, 2020, DPR Head Denis Pushilin put the Republic on high alert due to the threat of the coronavirus infection. The DPR currently has 16,498 confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to the latest reports.*jk
