Donetsk, Sep 27 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Sanitary and Epidemiologic Inspection specialists took water samples in Makeyevka for bacteriological and chemical analysis; the situation is being monitored, the Health Care Ministry press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“Water samples were taken for bacteriological and chemical analysis as part of anti-epidemic measures,” the press service said. “The samples will be tested for viruses at the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Centre.”

Earlier, social media reported the poisoning of Makeyevka residents with poor quality water. Acting DPR Head Denis Pushilin chaired an emergency meeting of officials on September 26 over the issue. Pushilin blamed insufficient water disinfection for the incident.

“In connection with the hospitalisation of several dozen Makeyevka residents with acute intestinal infection, the Health Care Ministry strongly advises the residents and guests of the Republic not to drink tap water,” the Ministry said.

According to the Ministry’s latest reports, 75 people sought medical assistance in Makeyevka.*jk
