Donetsk, Aug 21 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Head Alexander Zakharchenko extended his best wishes to DPR Mulsims on the occassion of the Kurban Bayram holiday.
“The Muslim community fits well into the multi-faith society of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Its members ever take an active position, participating in the construction of our state and defending the Republic residents’ right to independence and self-determination,” Zakharcheko said in his address.
Compassion, honestry, kindness and empathy are basic values of Islam shared by residents of the whole Republic, he noted.
“It’s a sacred holiday of happiness, purity and self-sacrifice. Let peace and transquility always reign in your hearts. Let the faith never leave them,” Zakharchenko said.
Kurban Bayram (Eid el Adha) is one of the two key Muslim holidays, a festival of sacrifice, celebrated 70 days after Uraza Bayram. This year, it is marked on August 21. Celebrations begin before sunrise as Muslim wash their faces and put on their best clothes to go to the mosque for the morning prayer.*jk
