Donetsk, Jul 5 - DAN. Five large families in the Donetsk People’s Republic were decorated with badges for meritorious parenting ahead of Day of Family, Love and Fidelity marked in the Republic on July 8.
The ceremony held in the Labour and Social Policy Ministry conference hall in Donetsk on Thursday was attended by the Republic’s acting Labour and Social Policy Minister Larisa Tolstykina and leader of the Donetsk Republic parliament faction Alexander Kostenko.
“Day of Family, Love and Fidelity is an orthodox holiday honouring Saints Peter and Fevronia, the patrons of family and wedlock. Our Republic gives priority to promoting family values; comprehensive assistance, both moral and financial, is necessary,” Tolstykina said.
The official handed in the badges of honour to five large families. They also received commendations from the Labour and Social Policy Ministry.
A show of children’s performance groups was arranged for the guests.
Earlier reports said the Donbass Post issued a new stamp marking Day of Family, Love and Fidelity.
The holiday is celebrated in the Donetsk People’s Republic on July 8. It was established by the order of DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko on July 6, 2015.*jk
