Donetsk, Apr 19 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic engineers have found 190 pieces of explosive ordnance on the premises of the Donetsk Water Treatment Plant (DFS) since the fighting broke out in Donbass, the Republic’s Emergencies Ministry press service said on Thursday.
“One hundred and ninety pieces of explosive ordnance have been found on incoming roads and DFS premises since the beginning of mine-clearing operations,” the press service said.
On Wednesday, Emergencies Ministry engineers found a grenade launcher fragmentation round as they were inspecting the approach ways to the DFS for safe evacuation of shift workers.
Earlier reports said Ukrainian forces had fired on a convoy of cars with DFS personnel wounding five people. Following the incident, the Voda Donbass state-owned water supply company decided to suspend the operation of the facility. The evacuation of the DFS workers and mothballing were carried out on Wednesday.
The DFS area is a hot spot in Donbass. It is located outside Yasinovataya and supplies water to both sides of the contact line, the DPR-controlled Donetsk, Yasinovataya, Vasilyevka and Spartak, and Kiev-controlled Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and Verkhnetoretskoye villages. The number of DFS customers exceeds 400,000.*jk
