Donetsk, Feb 1 - DAN. DPR engineers carried out mine-clearing operations on more than 15,000 hectares of farmland during Donbass fighting, the Republic’s Emergencies Ministry press service told Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“Emergencies Ministry teams have inspected more than 15,000 hectares of farmland as of today,” the press service said. “More than 26,000 hectares are yet to be examined ahead of spring sowing.”

The most hazardous areas are Yasinovatskiy, Novoazovskiy and Telmanovskiy districts and the outskirts of Donetsk, Gorlovka and Dokuchayevsk.

Mine-clearing operations will resume after the weather improves, the Ministry said.

Earlier reports said DPR farmers planned to sow crops on more than 120,000 hectares of land this spring.

DPR has been carrying demining non-stop. Hazardous objects include unexploded mines, artillery rounds, grenades and parts of missiles. *jk
