Donetsk, May 23 - DAN. Donetsk Regional Clinical Territorial Medical Association (DoKTMO) doctors have performed four pacemaker surgeries as part of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme, DPR acting Healthcare Minister Alexander Oprishchenko told a news briefing at Donetsk News Agency.

On May 22, pacemaker implantation was launched as one of the programme’s directions. Four surgeries have been performed as of now. “We can say that we’ve saved these people’s lives,” Oprishchenko said.

Another 13 patients from Kiev-held territory are on the waiting list of the patients needing pacemaker implants. They are under DoKTMO medical surveillance. United Donbass Foundation has already allocated money to purchase the pacemakers.

On February 17, DPR and LPR Heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy launched the Donbass people reunification programme. The main objective is to support socially vulnerable groups of the population. The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in seven fields including obstetrics, chemotherapy and prosthetics.*jk
