Donetsk, Dec 21 - DAN. Residents of Kiev-held areas gave birth to 97 babies in the Donetsk People’s Republic since it launched the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme earlier this year, the Republic’s Health Care Ministry press service reported on Thursday.

“Donetsk Republican Maternal and Child Health Centre continues to provide aid under the humanitarian programme,” the press service said. “Thanks to well-coordinated work, medics provided obstetric aid to 97 mothers living outside the Republic.”

The ministry says expectant mothers often seek assistance from DPR doctors because of a lack of skilled medical personnel in their residence areas, as patients’ testimonials confirm.

“I’ve long known that Donetsk perinatal centres provide skilled medical assistance, so I had no doubts as I was making the decision to go there,” the press service quoted a patient as saying. “Thanks to the humanitarian programme I’ve been under medical supervision and I get the necessary medications free of charge.”

DPR is implementing the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme to support socially vulnerable groups of the population. The health care segment of the programme envisions medical assistance in seven fields including obstetrics, chemotherapy and prosthetics. *jk
