Donetsk, Jan 22 - DAN. A rally commemorating the victims of the public transport stop shelling four years ago took place at the scene of the tragedy in Donetsk’s Bosse neighbourhood on Tuesday. The event gathered some 2,000 people including Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin.
“Our fellow countrymen were killed, many were wounded. At times, it feels like a dream in which you’re trying to wake up but regrettably, we cannot wake up; this is the harsh reality of the Ukrainian aggression,” Pushilin said. “This reality makes us see horrible crimes time and again.”
DPR parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka, acting Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin, local authorities and DPR residents took part in the rally.
A prayer for the dead was held at the memorial, followed by a minute of silence in memory of all victims of the Ukrainian aggression and a flower laying ceremony. The rally lasted for about an hour.
The tragedy occurred on January 22, 2015. A crowded public transport stop Donetskgormsh in the Bosse neighbourhood, Donetsk’s Leninskiy district, came under Ukrainian forces fire. Eight people died and another 26 were wounded. DPR authorities put up a monument at the scene of strike in 2016.*jk
