Donetsk, Sep 8 – DAN. DPR has commemorated the memory of victims of the Nazi era and Soviet soldiers who fought against it on the day of the 74th anniversary of Donbass liberation.

The commemoration took place by the Memorial to the Victims of Fascism in Donetsk, bringing together veterans, representatives of authorities and young people.

A minute's silence was held to remember the fallen soldiers and civilians killed during the war.

Several hundreds of people brought flowers to the memorial, and a gun salutes followed.

Donbass Liberation Day is one of the main DPR state holidays, celebrated on September 8. In 1943 the town of Stalino (as Donetsk was called in those days) was liberated from German occupation. The symbol of the victory is the Saur-Mogila Memorial on strategic height in the Donets ridge. *ot
