Donetsk, Apr 12 – DAN. DPR reps insist on emergency inspection of Avdeyevka Coke Plant, said DPR envoy to the negotiations Denis Pushilin’s press secretary Viktoria Talakina.

"DPR thinks that the presence of Avdeyevka Coke Plant in the war zone requires extraordinary immediate actions as it is ecologically hazardous and presents radio-chemical threat. The negotiators called for an immediate inspection of such enterprises with participation of Republics' representatives."

Over 320 rounds exploded on the territory of Avdeyevka Coke Plant, and reports transpired that Ukrainian military are going to install mines there, she said. Benzol, sulfuric acid, phenol and other hazardous substances are stored at the plant.

"Any fire outbreak might turn into a catastrophe," Talakina said.
Avdeyevka Coke Plant is the major enterprise of the kind in Europe, it produces a variety of chemicals including benzene, coal tar, coal oil ammonium sulphate and coke gas. As of March 2016, about 19 thousand tons of coke are stored at the facility. *ot
