Donetsk, May 31 - DAN. Tours of the legendary Donbass Arena stadium in Donetsk will be available shortly, the Donetsk People’s Republic Youth, Sport and Tourism Ministry press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“We plan to launch guided tours of the Donbass Arena stadium in the near future,” a press service representative said.
Visitors can see the press conference hall, VIP boxes, the Shakhtar FC locker room, walk out onto the football pitch etc.
The sport facility tours were suspended in the spring of 2014 as fighting broke out in Donbass.
Reports of Wednesday said that Donbass Arena had opened The Shakhtar FC museum for the first time since the beginning of the war. DPR specialists restored the football pitch turf and are now repairing climate control systems and communication equipment.
Donbass Arena was unveiled in the summer of 2009. It accommodates 52,667 spectators. Before the war, it used to be the Shakhtar FC home stadium. The sport facility has not functioned since the beginning of the Donbass conflict. It went into receivership on March 1, 2017. DPR and mass media representatives visited the stadium in April 2018 for the first time since the spring of 2014.*jk
