Donetsk, Aug 19 – DAN. Passenger trains have departed from the Donetsk railway station on Monday for the first time since 2014 when traffic was brought to a halt due to military action and shelling from the Ukrainian side.
A train departed on the route 6109 at 7.50 a.m. Donetsk-Elenovka, where one of the checkpoints connecting the DPR and Ukraine is located. The train stops at Rutchenkovo, Mandrykino and Dolya. Travel time is an hour and a half.
The return train leaves at 9.47 a.m. and 7.37 p.m. Another train from Donetsk departs at 5.40 p.m.
Six trains will be operating on the four routes; Donetsk-Mandrykino shall stop at the Rutchenkovo station.
The railway was closed in August 2014 when the station was damaged by Ukrainian shelling. Security situation in the district remained tense until mid-2015. *ot
