Donetsk, Feb 11 - DAN. Residents of the frontline town of Dokuchayevsk have drawn claims against Ukraine demanding more than ten million roubles in compensation, which will be lodged at the European Court of Human Rights, chairwoman of the Public Commission for Assessing Ukraine-caused damage Anastasia Butorkina said after the Commission’s meeting on Tuesday.
“The Commission considered the appeals of tenants of house 22/1 on Likholetov Street, located in a densely populated residential area in Doluchayevsk,” Butorkina said. “It is a four-storey house currently accommodating 74 people.”
Of the 32 apartments, 19 sustained considerable damage. Direct hits caused damage to load-bearing structures, windows, doors, the interior, home appliances and furniture, she said.
“Total damage is estimated at 10.4 million rubles. This is the sum of the compensation which DPR residents will demand from Ukraine at the European Court of Human Rights,” Butorkina said.
Earlier, Gorlovka and Staromikhailovka residents gathered all necessary documents to file legal actions against Kiev and claim compensation for the damage caused by the Ukrainian army. Debaltsevo and Kominternovo village residents are also poised to lodge their claims at the ECHR.
The public commission for assessing the economic damage caused to the Donbass population by Ukraine was set up in Donetsk in November 2019. The decision to set up the commission was made by a group of activists from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic at a public meeting.*jk
