Donetsk, Jun 26 - DAN. Thunderstorms, showers and gale force winds caused power outages in about 50 settlements across the Donetsk People’s Republic, the DPR Emergencies Ministry press service reported on Tuesday.
“Adverse weather conditions - thunderstorms and squalls - left 13,658 customers in 49 settlements without electricity,” the press service said.
The damage to transmission lines was caused on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Power cut-offs were reported in parts of Gorlovka, Shakhtyorsk, Zhdanovka, Torez and the Novoazovskiy district.
The Donetsk administration also reported transmission line failures due to bad weather. Electricity is currently unavailable to more than 2,000 customers in the Proletarskiy, Kalininskiy, Kuibyshevskiy and Kirovskiy districts of the city.
The Emergencies Ministry said specialists have already restored power in the Shakhtyorsk area and that other repairs will be completed shortly.
Showers with strong thunderstorms hit DPR areas at night. It is cloudy in the Republic at present with occasional showers and the temperature at 18 degrees Celsius.*jk
