Donetsk, Nov 2 — DAN. Planted forests will cover 350 hectares of the Donetsk People’s Republic territory this autumn, State Forestry and Hunting Industry Committee Chairman Alexey Shebalkov told the Donetsk News Agency.

“We’ll be planting oaks, pines and acacias, the top tree species of our forests, ” Shebalkov said.

The seedlings will be supplied by DPR nursery gardens and delivered from Russian regions as humanitarian aid, he said.

Earlier reports said that a new forest would be planted on the former contact line in the DPR’s Starobeshevo district. Mine clearance is underway in the area. In southern DPR, rare oak seedlings had been planted in the shape of a geoglyph.

Half of DPR woodlands were destroyed or turned into minefields during hostilities.*jk
