Donetsk, Feb 8 - DAN. Three hundred inmates convicted before the beginning of the Donbass conflict said they wanted to serve their sentences in Ukraine, Donetsk People’s Republic ombudswoman Darya Morozova told reporters on Friday.
“As of now, 300 people sentenced before the beginning of the Donbass conflict wish to serve their jail terms in Ukraine,” Morozova said.
For its part, Kiev passed to the DPR a list of 465 convicts. The ombudswoman explained that out of the total number, 132 persons were set free after serving out their sentences during the conflict, 13 were passed to Ukraine, five died and eight were convicted by DPR courts.
The DPR periodically passes inmates to Kiev for transfer to Ukrainian prisons. The last such handover took place at the Elenovka checkpoint on December 13, 2018. *jk
