Donetsk, May 2 - DAN. Almost 18,000 employees of companies currently under external management have joined DPR trade unions, the Republic’s Trade Union Federation chairman Maxim Parshin told Donetsk News Agency.

“According to official reports, 17,780 workers of companies taken into receivership joined DPR trade unions in different sectors, such as communications, energy, coal production and metallurgy,” Parshin said.

Earlier reports said workers had held meetings at several companies and created cells which subsequently joined trade unions in different sectors of the economy. Twelve primary cells were registered in DPR over six weeks, Parshin said on 20 April.

On March 1, DPR introduced external management at 43 companies operating in Ukrainian jurisdiction from 1 March as Kiev toughened the Donbass blockade. Among the industrial giants that came into DPR legal fold are Enakievo Steel Mill and its Makeyevka affiliate, Dokuchayevsk Flux and Dolomite Plant, Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant and Zuyevskaya Thermal Power Plant. *jk
