Enakievo, Feb 28 – DAN. A rally in support of stronger economic ties with Russia in Enakievo, a town northeast of Donetsk, gathered more than 10,000 residents on Tuesday.
The rally backed the joint statement by the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics launching the receivership transition control board for the enterprises currently operating in Donbass under Ukrainian jurisdiction and halting coal exports to Ukraine if Kiev doesn’t lift the transport blockade by 1 March.
The rally participants held posters reading “We support DPR Head’s decision,” “Not a single ton of coal to Ukraine” and “launch receivership, keep jobs.” Enakievskiy steel plant personnel joined the action. Local police are on hand to watch law and order.
On Monday, DPR and LPR Heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy warned Kiev that the Republics would launch receivership at companies under Ukrainian jurisdiction and halt coal supplies to Ukraine if the transport blockade was not lifted by 1 March.*jk
