Donetsk, Apr 20 - DAN. Seventy-six pieces of military equipment will be displayed in the Victory Day parade in Donetsk on May 9, Donetsk People’s Republic Domestic Policy Department Head Artyom Fomin said here on Tuesday.
“It’s less than three weeks before the Republic’s main holidays, so preparations are in full swing,” Fomin said at a meeting with DPR leader Denis Pushilin. “The military parade will launch May 9 celebrations in the Republic’s capital as 76 pieces of hardware will roll along city streets with parade crews numbering over 10,600 people.”
Victory Day celebrations will begin at the Saur Mogila memorial complex on May 8. A memorial service for the dead will be followed by a rally, a flower laying ceremony, buffet for war veterans and a show and field kitchens will work. Some 10,000 participants are expected to be involved, he said.
Earlier reports on Tuesday said that DPR militia conscripts have begun Victory Day parade drills.
The DPR traditionally holds the military parade on May 9; in 2020 it was postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus infection. The parade took place on June 24 marking the 75th anniversary of the first Victory Day parade in Moscow's Red Square in 1945.*jk
