Donetsk, Jun 10 - DAN. The Russian Investigative Committee (SK) has instituted criminal proceedings against Ukrainian servicemen on suspicion of using banned means and methods of warfare, after a woman was wounded in a mine explosion in the outskirts of Gorlovka, the SK official website reported.
“The SK Main Investigation Department filed a criminal case over the crime covered by Russian Criminal Code article 356, Part 1 (use of banned means and methods of warfare), in connection with illegitimate actions of Ukrainian law-enforcement personnel,” the report said.
The probe was launched after a woman was wounded in an explosion in the wooded area of Gorlovka’s Nikovsky district. The incident occurred on June 6. The investigators said that the mine had been planted by Ukrainian army servicemen.
Actions of Ukrainian forces violate the Minsk Agreements, the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and its Protocol II, and the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons which are considered to cause excessive harm or affect indiscriminately, as well as its Protocol II, the SK said.*jk
