Donetsk, Nov 30 — DAN. Russia’s Supreme Court on Thursday has ruled that the LGBT movement is extremist and banned its activity in the territory of the country, Russian mass media reported.

The decision is effective immediately. The Court met in camera due to confidential information in the case; the defendant’s representatives did not turn up at the hearing.

Prior to that, the Russian Justice Ministry brought a case against the LGBT movement demanding that the Court ban its activities. The Ministry said that it had exposed various signs and manifestations of extremism in the movement’s activity in Russia such as the inciting of social and ethnic strife.*jk
