Donetsk, Dec 5 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic food producers can have their products certified as meeting the requirements of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union which is essential for trade in the Russian Federation, Donetskstandartmetrologiya state-owned company deputy director general for standartisation and certification Yelena Klimenko said at a meeting in the DPR capital.
“In October, we expanded our accreditation and now have the opportunity to confirm, in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, that the quality of food produced by Republican companies meets EAEU standards,” Klimenko said. “This streamlines the certification procedure for the DPR businesses wishing to export products to Russia and other EAEU member-states.”
DPR Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Vladimir Ruschak said that the cost of certification was some 30 percent lower than in Russia.
The certification body and the testing facility were set up at Donetskstandartmetrologiya back in 2017. "They were accredited by Russia’s federal accreditation service which had verified the documents and DPR specialists’ competences in each of the declared standard, as well as the availability and the condition of testing equipment. The whole process lasted about four months, including the work of the federal service’s commission in the DPR,” Klimenko said.
The certificate of compliance with the standards of the Customs Union and the EAEU is mandatory for a majority of products and allows exporters to deliver and sell their products at destinations in the EAEU member-states Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.*jk
